John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched a lot of people through his music. Most of his songs were inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and later relocated to Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is now the embodiment of the state to people all over. If you travel with me, you may meet people at opposite sides of the globe. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're Colorado-based, Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked with small folk groups. The track was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that it was destined to be a hit single. The song was recorded just a few days following performing in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
